Olivia Burton, 23, moves to California with her boyfriend, Francis Morales, 24, against their families’ wishes. Francis’ mother, Lillian, is a devout Catholic who disapproves of her son’s cohabitation and expresses her feelings in the form of cruel, religious postcards. Despite these objections, the young lovers begin an exciting new life together. However, their happiness is cut short after a freak accident leaves Francis physically and mentally scarred. Soon he begins to have nightmares—whispering in his sleep to a figure Olivia cannot see and sleepwalking in strange corners of the house. These episodes frighten Olivia and also suggest that Francis may be hiding something from her. Her investigation leads to a horrifying and twisted discovery; they are haunted by the ghost of the child priest Francis—a creature who is angered by their cohabitation and has come to punish them for their sins.
